Voting for the Change We Need!

Early voting lines at Miami City Hall in Coconut Grove ran two hours long on Halloween. Lots of young people were in line to fill out a two-sheet long, double-sided paper ballot that included some extremely confusing language on charter amendments, retention of several judges, state senators, protection for wildlife and equal rights. Downright dizzying. The paper ballots were then scanned into machines that looked suspiciously like paper shredders. Democracy is indeed a miraculous process.

Senator So-Last-Century’s Good Neighbor Policy

The McCain campaign made a big deal about the candidate’s visit to Mexico last year. Apparently, back then Senator So-Last-Century never figured out he was not in Spain. Or maybe he can’t tell a Zapatero from a Calderon. Or NAFTA from NATO? Or Mexico City from Madrid? Oh well, they all speak Spanish. Shouldn’t trust them anyhow….
